Mission Statement

The mission of Unchained New York, Inc is to service the chained and/or neglected canine population as well as local community pets in need throughout Long Island, NY. As a 501c3 non-profit organization, we strive to continuously improve the quality of life for chained/neglected dogs and educate/advocate for the humane treatment and welfare of our local companion animals. At the same time, we actively work to reduce the prolific overpopulation of dogs through our spay and neuter initiative.

Who We Are

Unchained New York is a 501c3 non-profit, 100% volunteer run organization.  Our volunteers come from a variety of backgrounds but all share a passion and love for animals.  We also share the common belief that by educating and instilling knowledge within the community, we can break the cycle of abuse and neglect while bringing positive, lasting change in the treatment of animals.

What We Do

Unchained New York is a unique animal rescue that focuses on community relations and helping all animals in our community have a better quality of life.  We provide education, food, supplies, vet care, and other resources to pet owners in need across Long Island, NY. Through our nonjudgmental outreach and educational directives, we strive to improve the quality of life of chained and/or neglected dogs while encouraging owners to become active participants in their pets lives.  In addition, we strongly advocate the spaying and neutering of all companion animals.  We are actively working to reduce the over population of pets through our spay/neuter initiatives.  Presently our local municipal shelters are inundated with homeless, unwanted pets, some of which sit there for years.  Our rescue is focused on putting in the time and effort to work with these shelters, helping to place adoptable animals, especially the ones who are considered " harder to place " due to older age, medical conditions or in need of behavior modification.  Through our cohesive teamwork within our communities, we truly believe we can build a more compassionate and humane reality for animals.
